"I had the chance to work with Troy during a certification seminar. He helped me get my first kipping pull-up! Felt great!
What was awesome was HOW he helped me to get multiple kipping pull ups in a row. My shoulder mobility has always been really crappy and my ROM is limited at the bottom of the pull up. It's like my body was forcing me to come straight down as if I was doing a dead hang causing me to lose all my momentum in the kip. No matter how hard I tried, I wasn't able to string more than one kip together at a time!
I asked him what I could do to help and thought he was just going to show me some stretches and tell me to keep working on it. What happened next was CRAZY - but awesome!
He checked a few different functions like my pulse, etc. and somehow came up with a couple of simple drills to "improve my brain stem function". What?
After doing these drills for a few minutes he rechecked my shoulder ROM again. I couldn't believe that my shoulder tension and pain was totally gone in my right shoulder and I was able to get deeper in the bottom position of the hang. This allowed for better transfer of momentum from one kip to the next. I then tried kipping again and was able to get 5 in a row without trying! I think I could have done more but I got too excited!
